When st-john-and-st-francis.co.uk was first set up, the entire site was hand-coded in HTML and could display perfectly on any web browser at any resolution. As time passed, the site grew in size and so became unfeasible to update by hand. The site is now maintained using a web-design software package. Pages produced by these programs are often "fussy" about how they are viewed- so our pages are designed to be viewed at the settings most commonly used by the average home PC owner.

In the early days of the Internet, Netscape was by far the best and most innovative web browser around. At the time, Internet Explorer was nowhere near as good but times change. Nowadays, web browsers are pretty much of the same quality. However, as Internet Explorer is by far the most widely used (91.8% of net surfers use it), it is the web browser we recommend and support.

Please bear in mind that photographs on our site are deliberately small in size. This is to ensure they cannot be used by a stranger to identify our children.
